Day four in Hawaii!!! :) :)

Today we hiked about 5 miles from Marshall's house, up a big mountain, down the other side, and then around the front and back to Marshall's house. The scenery up on the mountain that we were on was beyond beautiful! On one side was the valley that Marshall lives in (Hakipuu), on the other was the one Brody lives in (Kaaawa) (both Hakipuu and Kaaawa are part of the Kualoa Ranch), then there was the Kahana valley and the Green valley. It took a couple hours and we were all soaked in sweat when we were done! :) We all wore shorts and the path we took up the mountain was surrounded by plants that scraped our legs. :( That part wasn't fun. The first couple miles were slower because my mom and dad couldn't go up the steep parts of the mountain very fast especially since it was muddy and the path was kind of non-existent. When we went down the mountain, we left my parents at Brody's house to visit while we went back to Marshall's house. That part went way faster. We ran/walked most of it.

Randomly along the way I snapped pictures of the scenery...

Buck in the foreground and Wren in the background (Marshall's two dogs) patiently waiting for us to catch up.

Dad and mom coming up the mountain.

An offering the Hawaiians made at the top of the mountain.

Another offering with a mountain in the background.

Kahana and Green valley

Hakipuu valley

Some ocean in front of Akipuu valley. Look at the different colors in the water!!

Marshall looking out over Kaaawa valley.

Some beautiful ferns at the top.

Dad checking out his AT&T on the mountain. :)

On our way down...

This is a baby Lau Hola tree.

We got all muddy on the trail so we stopped by a stream to rinse and cool off. Boy did it feel good!! :)

Buck and Wren sharing a mongoose that they killed along the way.

A noni tree

A native Hawaiian hut on display for tourists.

Coconut tree

There was an X-Terra race going on during the time we were hiking. We took some of the trails.

Some pretty flowers and a rock with neat pink stuff on it.

Micaiah climbing a coconut tree. He actually picked a coconut and we brought it home, cut it open, and all shared the liquid inside. :) It wasn't bad.

While we were on the hike, Marshall pointed out all the foliage and named it all telling us what was native and what was invasive. It was very interesting...and funny listening to Micaiah try to say these weird words.
Nothing much happened when we got home from the hike. We all ate some food and sat around.
