Day ten in Hawaii!!!

After breakfast this morning we went to the hospital to see my mom. She was awake but didn't look too good. She somehow looked...older. It was probably the fact that she was in pain and that her hair still hadn't been brushed out after the fall and had some briers in it.  I hated seeing her go through that pain, especially when the PT guys came in to help her to try to walk. :( I felt so...helpless. It made me wish that I could take her spot in that bed and be the one hurting. She is still very sore on her right side. There are no bruises that we can see but she is always complaining about her right side hurting bad. She is very lucky she didn't break her hip, arm, or neck! When she fell from the horse, she landed on her right side and fractured her number 7 and 8 ribs. Her right lung had been punctured a little and had kind of collapsed. Today the lung is back to normal but with lots of pain. I got the story wrong yesterday about how she fell off. What happened was she decided to take the horse in a little round pen to run and started out too fast. She didn't close the gate to the pen so when she came around, he bolted for the gate and she tried to stop him but he wouldn't listen. The horse went one way and my mom the other. She is going to stay in the hospital today too. Hopefully tomorrow she'll feel better and be able to come back. She isn't in a good enough condition to fly back to Memphis tomorrow so she will be staying here for another week or so, just as long as it takes for her to feel up to flying. I am going to be staying here with her to help her get out of bed and get food and such. I will probably be missing the Christmas program. :( That is a real bummer! I was looking forward to doing that. I only went to one practice. Anyway, we will be going to see my mom tomorrow afternoon sometime and will be bringing her back. Thank you all for your prayers! She has her cell phone now so she is able to receive phone calls and texts. Just please keep in mind that we are four hours behind you. :) If she doesn't answer your call she is probably sleeping. We love and miss you all and can't wait to see y'all again!! :)

Micaiah's boil is doing much better today. :) It came to a head and popped and most of the puss and blood is out of it. I didn't take any pictures but my dad did on his phone. It looked repulsive! :( My stomach usually doesn't turn on anything bloody or medical but that made it turn! Anyway, he said it feels better. :) Thank you all for your prayers!

Day nine in Hawaii!!! :( :( :(

Today was another one of those lazy/re cooperate days. Yesterday pretty much wore all of us out! :) I've been applying aloe gel on my face like every couple hours. :( I woke up this morning to make breakfast and looked in the mirror and my face was swollen and really, I mean really, red! :( :( It hurt pretty bad last night too. If I didn't stay in one spot my arms, legs and face would ache. :( My arms and legs aren't as bad as my face although they do hurt. I've never seen my nose this bad before! :( I can only just pray that is doesn't peel really bad! With my luck though, it'll be peeling for the Christmas program when I go back to the village. :( :(
So, while I was watching Aika this morning, Marshall took my mom on a horse back ride. They had loads of fun and went from Kaaawa, Brody's valley into Hakipu'u, Marshall's valley. When they got into Marshall's valley, they called for me and I went out to get a picture of them...

They left after that and went to herd some cattle back into their pasture. I went back inside with Aika, my dad and Mic. We got a call about 15-20 minutes later from Marshall saying that my mom had fallen off the horse. Apparently, she was fixing to get down and the horse kind of bucked sending her over the horses head! She landed on her side and we think she broke a couple ribs. Marshall's roommate took my dad to the farm where my mom was and from there he called an ambulance. She was taken to the hospital along with my dad. They are there right now. She should be fine as far as we know. They are just going to do a couple x-rays to see what exactly is wrong. Please pray for her!!
That's all I know right now. I'll update this later if I find anything else out.

5:00pm--Just heard from my dad that him and my mom will be staying overnight in the hospital. They did a CT scan on her and found that her lung was punctured a little from the fall and that her ribs are little bit fractured but not broken. It isn't too bad from what I've heard. Keep praying though. She's still in a lot of pain.

7:00pm--Just got off the phone with my dad. He was using a pay phone because his cell had died. He said that just my mom was staying over night so they could keep an eye on her to watch her breathing. Something like if she didn't breath evenly she might catch pneumonia. My dad is going to catch a ride home with Marshall later on tonight. Right now Marshall is at a Christmas party at the ranch. That's it for right now.

9:20pm--Heard from dad again. Mom threw up a little but they think it is because of the pain medications they are giving her. Dad is still there with her. Dad says that when he goes back tomorrow morning Mic and I can go with him to see her. :) She's been gone all day. I only saw her this morning a little at breakfast then when I took her picture on the horse.
Micaiah's boil is still trying to come to a head where it will pop. It is still causing him pain. I just got done changing his bandage. It looks pretty bad. I took a picture of it to show mom when she comes back tomorrow but I don't know if I want to post it. It doesn't look good at all. :(

Day eight in Hawaii!!! :) :) :)

We left the house today around 9:30am to go kayaking. We were going to go to a place where we could rent kayaks but it was about $80 a kayak! We didn't really feel like spending that kind of money, especially when we don't have it. So Marshall hooked up with a friend who owned three kayaks, two double and one single, and we borrowed his. Micaiah and I shared one while my parents had one and Marshall had his own. We left around 10am and didn't get home until 2pm...high tide! :) We kayaked out to a little island called Chinaman's Hat where we swam, bobbed in the waves, hiked and burned!! :) As tragic as it may seem, I couldn't bring my camera because it would've got soaked! :( :( Instead though, I brought a disposable underwater camera that I had bought a couple days ago!! :) I only could take 27 pictures though so I had to be picky. I'm used to just snapping away at anything and deleting them if they're bad. I won't be able to develop the pictures until I get home...I hate waiting!! :( I think I got some pretty neat ones though. One picture was of Micaiah and Marshall standing on some volcanic rock with a wave splashing over them. The waves were really high today and kept hitting us as we walked around the island. It was really fun! At some points as we walked, the path disappeared so we had to make up our own path along the rocky, steep side of the island. :) That was fun too! Very adventurous!! :) After hiking around the island, Micaiah and I put on some of Marshall's tanning lotion and fell asleep in the sun...baking! Wow does that stuff work!! I'm very, very tan/red right now! :) :( All the freckles that were ever on my face and some that wished they were have surfaced and made my face all freckly! :( That is the part I don't like. :(

Here is a picture of Chinaman's Hat that I took a couple days ago...it is on the left.
We didn't paddle out to it at first. We started paddling parallel to the shore of Oahu until we came to it. Then it was kind of rough getting to the shore amidst all the waves! :)

After the kayaking, we went back to Marshall's and just relaxed and ordered pizza for dinner. :)

Micaiah's spider bite has turned into a boil and it is very painful for him. My mom put more plantain on it with basil and castro oil. It hurt him but when we went kayaking he got distracted and had loads of fun! :)

Day seven in Hawaii!!! :) :) :)

We didn't have a plan made up for today last night, so it took us forever and a day to get out the door and find out where we wanted to go this morning. :( When we finally made our plans, it was 9:30am...late! We all piled in Marshall's little two door Scion car and drove towards the North shore. We were going to go to Haleiwa which is a little town where we could do more shopping then find a nice place to swim, but we got stuck in traffic! Apparently there was an accident at the end of a bridge on a mountain road and they weren't letting anybody through, and it was going to be like four hours before they did too. That was crazy so we turned around and stopped at different famous surfing spots along the North shore and watched the big waves. It was incredible!!

There was a competition going on at a place on the North shore called pipeline...

We found a nice little place to stop and get out and swim...mostly just lay on the beach though. :) The bummer thing about the beach was I lost my sunglasses there! :( I hooked them on my camera bag and they fell off when I bent down to take a picture. I didn't notice until we got back in the car and the waves had already hit up against the shore many times and swept them out to sea. :( :(

The flowers here are beyond amazing!!!! :)

The moon here right now is weird. I never see it at night, only during the day...

After a long day of cruising, we went over to Brody and Saki's for a dinner of tacos and pumpkin cheesecake! :) We had loads of fun there telling stories of when Brody and Marshall were kids. We were all dying of laughter!! :) After the fun and games, we took some pictures...these are for you Ari and Rushi. :)

The pumpkin cheesecake

Their Christmas tree. :) I told them that if I lived in Hawaii I would decorate a palm tree for Christmas...they're a whole ton cheaper!! :)

Aika... :) :)

After we left Brody's Marshall took me into Waikiki to Wal-Mart so I could finish up my shopping. It was loads of fun...if you know Marshall! :) From there we stopped by his work to check his schedule then went home.

Micaiah is doing better. His arm where he got bitten is still very sore!! We ended up finding some plantain leaves on the side of the road today so my mom made a poultice out of them and put it on his arm.

Day six in Hawaii!!! :) :) :)

Today I went to Ashley heaven!! Guess where!?! Shopping!! (not for food)

Well, actually Marshall took us to the South side of Oahu, Waikiki. That has the best shopping places! We went to a place called the International Market Place. Basically lots of different people from different back rounds sell their things in this place. There were loads and loads of little booths to buy things!! I didn't know where to start or where to go next. Ok, before I go into any more detail, let me tell you what happened before we went shopping...As I told you yesterday, Brody was going to take Micaiah hunting for goats in the mountains today. Micaiah woke up very early this morning to get ready to go. My mom got up with him to make him a nice breakfast and help him get ready. Brody came to get him and they left around 6:30am, waaayyyy before I got up! Anyway, after the rest of us got up and presentable for the day, which took a little longer than it should have, we left for Waikiki! (On the way we got a call from Brody saying that the guy who was going to take them up on top of the mountain to hunt goats didn't show up with the copper. :( I felt really bad for Micaiah because he had been looking forward to it for a couple days now. He ended up just working with Brody on the ranch for a couple hours.) We had packed a lunch so we stopped at a park on the edge of Waikiki to eat and meet up with Saki and Aika. Everywhere you looked was a picture! Beautiful ocean and trees!

There were these crabs everywhere. They kind of freaked me out when I first saw them running around!

Dad and Aika

There were five different couples there getting their wedding pictures taken. One couple was actually getting married in the park next to the ocean! :)

A guy painting the scenery...

Aika was, as usual, adorable!!

We had fun watching her run around the park chasing the birds!

After the wonderful time in the beautiful park, Marshall dropped my mom and myself off to shop while he went to help Saki with something and my dad sat on the beach reading.

Now back to the International Market Place...we ended up walking through the place for about two hours before Marshall called and said that he was ready to go. Boy how time flew!! We weren't near done our shopping! :( I think Wednesday we are going again to finish it all up. :) This time on the North shore...that should be fun!

Micaiah got bit by, we think, a brown recluse spider a couple days ago. My mom put on it all that she knows will help it that she has. It has only gotten worse! We looked around half the day today for some plantain leaves but nobody carrys it. :( Tomorrow we will try again.

(I'm really sorry if I misspelled a ton of words in this post and made a bunch of mistakes. I'm really tired!! Tomorrow I'll go over it to fix everything up)
